Family Newsletter 2011

2011

Happy Christmas!

Seems like I was just writing the 2009 letter (late as I recall).  I totally missed doing 2010 – not certain what happened.

This year we officially became empty-nesters.  Timothy moved to London to finish up his college education in Economics.  He left in August after great drama over his education visa and a “broken” ankle.  Life with Timothy was never dull.  He left us his dog, to remember him by.

We still also have Pretzel, Julianna’s cat.   Julianna has had a busy year.  She purchased a flat in London this summer.  We were visiting during her move, so we could help her.  We found some time to sightsee but it was fun to be a part of her new flat. Julianna also became a British citizen in November.  Timothy was able to represent the family at the ceremony.  Julie finishes her employment at Lehman Brothers just before the end of the year and starts a new job with Deutsche Bank in January.

Hugh still works for CIGNA and is anxiously anticipates retirement in the next couple of years.  I’m still enjoying working in my business.  I get to make my own schedule so I’m not quite as anxious to retire as Hugh. But now that the children have complete left, we discuss what to do with all our extra time and what to do in our retirement. We still continue to work different shifts so our time together is extremely limited.

For the last two years we have spend some time traveling doing some photography workshops and visiting Julianna in London.  We spent this Christmas and New Years with Tim and Julie in London. We stayed in a village outside London where we may spend our summers after retirement.    We rather enjoy village life – spending our days walking in the village visiting the small shops and local sights and enjoying pub life in the evenings.

We wish all of you a happy and healthy New Year.
