Our last day on the Mekong

This is a dream fulfilled, and everything I imagined it could be. The pace relaxed, time to hear our guide, Paan’s stories, and lots of time to quiz her on Laos, Buddhism, the plants and animals around us, and so much more. She was a patient listener and teacher. I cannot wait to write up what I learned from her for the website!

The morning started with an elephant sighting and ended with a day of watching a local weaver. Marie and Skyler, I took a video to share with you two textile nuts.

And Larry, I thought of you at lunch when I ate cooked bamboo for the first time. So many things I see remind me of all my friends. And to all my many photography buds, I highly recommend a trip up the Mekong River.

Elephant sighting…no time for my camera.
