WOKINGHAM 2025
Julianna moved back to the UK from Dubai in May. She asked if I could meet her in Heathrow to help with the cats, of which she has three. I agreed, time with Julianna and three cats, out of Phoenix in late May, early June, what could be better!
My flight was an hour late, so out carefully planned scheduled, didn’t work out. I should have arrived 45 minutes after her flight. So we arrived at the flat shortly after the cats arrived from their flight.
Finding Abi the first couple of days consumed our time and worry. She had found place under the bathroom sink, way out of sight/. We couldn’t crain out necks around to see if she might be there, but the phone camera gave us the answer.
Abi who originated in England felt more at home after after a few days and we actually got to see her come out in the living area of the flat. I think Abi spent her years in Dubai, after the arrival of Camille and her brood, under a bed. She found her inner warrior cat, and became sociable. Well warrior cat is an gross exaggeration.
The cats seemed to adapt better from the flight and time zone change than the humans, but with cats it is difficult to tell if their sleep schedule has been affected.
Two of the cats discovered my heating pad, and made took turns, or not, using it to warm up in the UK weather, slightly more damp and cold than Dubai.
My friend from graduate school met us in Wokingham in early June.
To prepare her, I took some photos to share.
Wokingham has a lovely high street area (a street with shops) and I walked it most mornings, stopping at the local grocery store for whatever we needed for the day. And occasionally stopping at Gails to pick up breakfast.
