Al Masmuk Palace

Our first stop of the day was Al Masmak Palace Museum. The good news was that I could take photos. The 19th-century building was made of mud brick and built by Imam Abdullah bin Faysal Al Saud. It is also the site of a 1902 battle, in which Abdullah bin Faysal Al Saud ousted a rival clan. He later became the first king of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, formed in 1932. Today, Al Masmak Palace Museum tells the story of the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Al Masmak Palace Museum does not have its own website, but here is a link with information on the Al Masmak Palace Museum.

EMBLEM OF SAUDI ARABIa

The emblem of Saudi Arabia, shown on the far right above, features a palm tree and two crossed swords.
The palm tree represents the idea that a good life comes through hard work and faith. It symbolizes prosperity, growth, vitality, and abundance — all reflected by the date palm, which has been vital to survival throughout Arabia’s history for thousands of years.
The crossed swords stand for the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They embody strength, protection, and justice, as well as the Kingdom’s readiness to defend the palm tree — the symbol of a good and prosperous life.
