FRONTIGAN TO MARSEILLAN
The light was pretty in the morning but we were not treated to another glorious sunrise. We were still at Frontignan at 9:30 so we got to see the bridge lift again. Unlike other draw bridges I have seen, this bridge didn’t split to open, it just lifted. Again few boats passed. We did find out that the bridge is more active in the summer, high season months.
Hugh had read there was a food court in Frontignan. We had visited the Les Halles de Narbonne food court in the summer of 2024, and we excited to see what Frontignan offered. The food court was significantly smaller than the one in Narbonne, so it was a quick visit. From the food court, we decided to walk to the Wine Cooperative. We were far more successful there. The staff poured us tasting of all the wines produced within the cooperative, and we had quite a bundle of various wines to carry back. We stopped in town, to pick up some cheese and produce.
We moored in Massillon for two nights and had some nice sunsets and sunrises.
From Frontignan we boated to Marseillan. The trip to Massillon took us over the lake, Étang du Thau. Here we exited the Canal du Rhône à Sète and after crossing the lake would be on the Canal du Midi. (Our 2001 canal trip had been on this canal.) There were numerous mussels farms on the lake.
Listed under resources is information on how we planned this trip.
