Hike to Shira Ridge Camp, altitude 11,500 ft, projected hiking time 7 to 8 hours and I hiked 7. Will leave the rainforest during this portion of the hike and into the heather, in all we will go through 5 vegetative zones.

Every afternoon we had tea and popcorn in the mess tent.  You couldn’t start the meal without sanitizing your hands.  I was impressed by the vigilance to keep everything sanitary.
